Conan Exercise

Well, Im learning to walk before I run by learning to draw faces plain and simple, no exaggeration.  I need to get used to the anatomy and views of each face before I can know what to exaggerate.

New Outfit

I noticed the other day while talking outfits with a friend of mine how our taste in clothing and accessories have changed back to the styles we hated wearing as a kid. Puffed sleeves, pleats, bows and collars; faux pearls, cameos, ribbons, the list goes on… Now, these are the very things I look for when I shop!

Gervais Exercise

I’ve realized that Im drawing portraits or cartoony faces as opposed to caricatures. I’ve only been at this for three or four days though so Im not beating myself up just yet. Im still learning how to see. This learning process is not very pretty but Im having fun despite the frustration.

New Art Book!!!

Spock Caricature Exercise

I recently gained possession of one of the best art books I’ve seen in a while, The Mad Art of Caricature by Tom Richmond. He creates the artwork for Mad Magazine-one of my favorite magazines since I was a kid! His art is amazing and now I get to inherit a small nugget of his vast wisdom! This is day one of practice and I’ve already learned quite a bit. Believe me, I am a long long long way from mastering this skill (long way) but the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Ill be posting progress. Here we go!
